Social responsibility
Chiesi strongly believes in man and that every company should focus on the individual. A company's decisions and activities have a direct impact on people: patients, company staff and family, suppliers, customers, local communities, banks, government, media, competitors and others concerned.
Shared Value – healthier people in greener society
We work based on a concept called Shared Value. This means that with our operations we want to contribute to solving societal challenges and meeting social and environmental needs. Social value creation is, among other things, about reaching more patients in need with our medicines. Environmentally, this means being able to do better with reduced climate impact. It makes society both healthier and greener.
Our background as a family-owned company provides a basis for a long-term commitment to sustainability that benefits both patients, society and the company itself. We call it triple value creation.
Chiesi allocates roughly 20 percent of its turnover to research and development to find new medicines and treatments. In the long run, it can contribute to the development of new medicines and gives Chiesi opportunities to grow and develop while creating benefits for society and patients.
Chiesi is the driving force behind the sustainability manifesto that the Swedish pharmaceutical industry, through the industry organization LIF, is working with. The sustainability manifesto clarifies how all members of LIF must help each other to increase the pace of sustainability work. The goal is that it should also inspire the member companies to develop in the direction of the UN's global goals in Agenda 2030.
We try to influence the world around us in a positive direction and are proud that Chiesi took the initiative for the sustainability manifesto. The next step is to investigate how we can spread it to other countries.
Chiesi Foundation Onlus
The Chiesi Foundation Onlus was founded in 2005 and is an ideal organization aimed at promoting human health and relieving patients' suffering through research, knowledge sharing and training of healthcare professionals. The focus is on respiratory, rare and neonatal diseases.
Our production plants
Chiesi Group has three production plants. The units are located in Parma, Italy, Blois-La Chaussée-Saint-Victor in France and Santana de Parnaíba in Brazil.
Since 2008, the plant in Parma has utilised tools and systems inspired by the principles of Lean Manufacturing in order to increase production efficiency and flexibility. The system has made it possible for us to achieve quantitative targets, but also to increase the participation of operators in the improvement process. This has brought many benefits in terms of skills development, motivation and working climate. Based on the positive results obtained, the project has been developed over the years through a wider application of the tested systems and the gradual introduction of other improvement tools. We are continuously engaged in how we can improve our operations in different ways, with the introduction of tools and processes inspired by Lean Manufacturing initiatives helping us in our endeavour to be world leading in everything we do.
